  • 125 g Spinach
  • 100 g Whole Wheat Pasta
  • 30 g Lemons
  • 15 g Sour Cream
  • 11 g Fresh Ginger
  • 7 g Breadcrumbs
  • 5 g Sesame Seeds
  • 3 g Sesame Oil
  • 2 g Garlic
  • 0 g Salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Aromatics

    • Peel and finely slice the garlic.
    • Peel and finely grate the ginger.
  2. Sauté Aromatics

    3 min hands-on

    • Heat sesame oil in a large pan over medium heat.
    • Add sliced garlic and grated ginger.
    • Sauté for 2–3 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.
  3. Wilt the Spinach

    • Add spinach to the pan.
    • Stir frequently until completely wilted, about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Blend into a Smooth Base

    • Pour water into the pan with the spinach mixture.
    • Increase heat to bring to a boil.
    • Remove from heat and puree the mixture until smooth or slightly chunky.
  5. Cook the Orzo

    • Return spinach puree to heat and bring to a gentle boil.
    • Stir in dry whole-grain pasta.
    • Cook for 7–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo absorbs most of the liquid.
  6. Toast Breadcrumbs and Sesame Seeds

    • Place a small dry skillet over medium heat.
    • Add seasoned breadcrumbs and sesame seeds.
    • Toast for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and aromatic.
  7. Add Lemon for a Bright Finish

    • Remove orzo from heat when silky.
    • Zest and juice the lemons.
    • Stir zest and juice into the orzo.
    • Add salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Plate and Garnish

    • Spoon green orzo into bowls.
    • Top with a dollop of sour cream.
    • Sprinkle toasted breadcrumbs and sesame seeds over the top.
    • Cooking tips:
    • Add a pinch of chili flakes to the garlic and ginger while sautéing for extra flavor.
    • If the orzo becomes too thick, stir in a splash of hot water to adjust the texture.
    • Start with half the lemon juice and taste before adding more to avoid overpowering the dish.
