Prepare the Broth Base

- Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced ingredients and a pinch of salt. Sauté for about 5 minutes until aromatic.
- Add tamari and cook for 2 more minutes, stirring frequently.
- Dissolve vegetable broth in water and add to the saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce to a low simmer.

Roast the Shiitake Mushrooms

- Break dried shiitake mushrooms into smaller pieces and soak in hot water for 10-15 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
